“I keep waiting for her to come through the door and scream my name mum mum. My baby!!”
Kailia was best known for being featured on an episode of Toddlers and tiarasa reality television series centered on the families of children who have entered beauty pageants.
She became one of the most recognizable faces on the show after her cheeky grin during a 2012 segment was turned into a hugely popular meme.
Her family has now set up a Kailia Posey Teen Crisis Intervention Fund which aims to raise funds for “students in crisis”.
Kailia started competing in pageants when she was three years old and continued to do so throughout her childhood and teenage years.
In her statement to TMZ, Marcy wrote that her daughter “has won countless crowns and trophies after competing on the pageant circuit her entire life.”
The 16-year-old was a student at Lynden High School in Washington.
“Her highly acclaimed talent as a contortionist had already led to professional job offers on tour, and she had recently been selected to be a cheerleader at her high school next fall,” her mother added.
Kailia was also interested in aviation and had expressed her desire to obtain a commercial pilot’s license.
She had performed with Cirque du Soleil and had a role in the 2018 Netflix movie Eli.
