The Callisto Protocol News Is Coming Next Week

We’ll finally get more information on upcoming sci-fi survival horror The Callisto Protocol next week. What we do know about the project is that it will include horror elements, similar to Glen Schofield’s Dead Space series, and it’s set in the same universe as PUBG, but the connection is so loose that it’s almost as if it’s not there.

The news comes from Schofield himself, who recently tweeted: “If you’re not already following @CallistoTheGame, now might be a good time to start. Expect news next week. In the meantime, here’s A close-up of one of the creatures from our world-class character cast. They’re amazing. Happy Friday the 13th! Get ready!” And again, Geoff Keighley left the “eyes” emoji on it.

Late last month, Schofield teased that it was almost time to properly reveal The Callisto Protocol. The director shared project artwork featuring creepy creatures and lots of walls of flesh.

As mentioned earlier, the game’s connection to PUBG isn’t that strong, so don’t expect to meet a guy with a frying pan. “We are helping PUBG Corp right now as a team of writers, working on the lore of PUBG and its universe,” Schofield explained in an interview. “They have a schedule, and we’re adjusting to that schedule now. It won’t be really deep, but there will be few connections here and there. We’ll probably refer to each other from time to time… It will be more meaning once the game is released!”

For now, all we know is that the game is set in the year 2320, in a penal colony known as Black Iron, based on Callisto, Jupiter’s dead moon. Players will control prisoners trapped in the colony during an alien invasion. From what we could see in the trailer, it appeared that the United Jupiter Company who operated the prison were responsible for the invasion and documenting the fate of the prisoners at the hands of the aliens. It seems like the kind of frame that Glen Schofield could do wonders with.
